An employee receives net pay, which is less than gross pay. This is because there are two main deductions from the gross pay. One is required deductions by legal enforcement, the other one is optional deductions that depend on discretionary reasons. Required deductions are mainly social security premiums and unemployment insurance premiums according to social security and tax regulations.
