Eskişehir's prosperity comes from the railroad and its factories: TÜLOMSAŞ (the only locomotive engine factory), TUSAŞ (aircraft parts and engine factory), sugar factory (one of the first established in the Turkish Republic), brick and tile factories, ETİ (biscuit and food factory) and the strategic Turkish Air Force training base.
