In 1949 the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was formed. The historical trajectories in North Africa were similarly connected in a series of events with distinct African interests aligning or conflicting with European powers. The entire Maghreb region was heavily under the canopy of the mighty Egyptian Civilization.
